ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
Immediate opening at our headquarter office in Canby, Oregon for a self-motivated Environmental Specialist with a positive, team-oriented outlook.
Our Environmental Division specializes in environmental compliance management as it relates to the utility construction industry. Our team brings expertise to construction projects in the areas of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan development and implementation, onsite inspection and monitoring, permitting, mitigation planning, restoration and environmental training.
This position will be based out of the headquarter office and will regularly have overnight travel to various job sites and construction meetings. Out-of-town stays on a project for weeks at a time is possible.
Essential job duties will include the following:
• Responsible for implementation of environmental compliance during construction of transmission facilities, including overhead and underground transmission lines as well as substations;
• Support Project Management staff in providing the analysis for manpower and material costs of environmental tasks on a project;
• Support Environmental staff on field visits, attending meetings, pre-construction planning, researching permit requirements, and communicating with clients and regulatory agencies;
• Research and writing support documentation for permits;
• General knowledge of Federal laws and regulations, especially Section 402 of the Clean Water Act (National Pollutant Discharge and Elimination Systems [NPDES] ) permits for construction sites and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan preparation.
Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Environmental Science or Biology
● 2-5 years work experience in a related/relevant field
● Construction or biological field experience is preferred
● Experience estimating costs
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Technical and scientific writing skills
● Ability to work with a diverse group of personnel
● Analytical thinking skills
● Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license

FIELD HELICOPTER MECHANIC
Immediate opening for a Field Helicopter Mechanic to support the power line construction helicopter operations in the field and at our headquarter office in Canby, Oregon.
Minimum experience required:
• 5 years Total Helicopter Maintenance
• 3 years of MD 500 Maintenance
• 1 year of Helicopter Field Maintenance
• A&P (IA a plus)
• Must have or be able to obtain a CDL w/ HAZMAT and Tank endorsements
• Familiarity with MS Word, Excel and Outlook

ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER
Wilson Construction has an immediate opening at our Brea, CA Office for a self-motivated Assistant Project Manager (entry to mid level) with a positive, team-oriented outlook.
The Assistant Project Manager will assist in providing project management support on utility transmission-line construction projects along with developing, planning, coordinating and directing the technical work for electrical/utility construction projects.
This is an office position requiring an entry to mid level professional with the majority of work hours to be spent in an office setting and field site visits in the Project area as required; minimal travel outside the area may be required. This position will support the Brea office as well as team with the headquarter office under the direction of the Onsite Project Manager.
Requirements include:
• 3 to 4 years of project management experience related to construction, including utility experience in entry to mid level management.

JUNIOR-LEVEL PROJECT BIOLOGIST
Immediate opening at our Branch Office in Brea, California for a self-motivated Junior-Level Biologist with a positive, team-oriented outlook.
The Project Biologist functions as a specialist responsible for working with the project team to facilitate construction progress while ensuring compliance with the Project’s mitigation measures, primarily biological.
This is a field position requiring the majority of work hours to be spent at the construction site.
Essential job duties will include the following:
• Daily site monitoring for Project’s species of concern, potential nesting birds and identified environmentally sensitive areas (ESAs);
• Ensuring Project compliance with Owner Developed Special Provisions and the Project’s Mitigation Monitoring Plan;
• Teaming with project staff to ensure minimization of potential impacts to identified ESAs and species of concern;
• Helping work crews deploy netting and other deterrents to prevent bird nesting in construction work site or on construction equipment;
• Reporting as necessary to the Project Environmental Compliance Manager when Project’s species of concern are observed;
• Performing other related duties as assigned by the Project Environmental Compliance Manger and the Site Superintendent.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science with concentration in Ornithology, Animal Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Management, or other related field;
• Available to work up to 60 hours per week;
• 0 – 3 years field experience in biological surveys, canvassing and mitigation monitoring;
• Familiarity with applicable regulatory agency requirements (USFWS, CDFG, etc.);
• Familiarity with the flora and fauna of Southern California, including raptors and migratory birds;
• Capable of recognizing the Project’s species of concern;

PROJECT SWPPP COMPLIANCE MANAGER
Immediate opening in the Environmental Division at our Branch Office in Brea, California for a self-motivated SWPPP Compliance Manager with a positive, team-oriented outlook.
The Project SWPPP Compliance Manager functions as a highly experienced professional specialist responsible for ensuring site compliance with all applicable NPDES General Permits for Construction Activities (2009-0009-DWQ; NPDES No. CAS000002), the project’s Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan and any other applicable requirements (e.g. Jurisdictional Permits, Dewatering/DeMinimus Permit).
This is a field position requiring the majority of work hours to be spent at the construction site.
Essential job duties will include the following:
• Daily inspection of site BMPs;
• Implementing all elements of the SWPPP, including but not limited to:
Prompt and effective erosion and sediment control measures;
All non-storm water management activities, such as dewatering, vehicle cleaning, fueling and maintenance; and
All materials and waste management activities, such as material use, stockpiles, spill clean-up, concrete, sanitary and liquid wastes;
• Ensuring that no materials enter downstream receiving waters other than storm water and allowable non-storm water discharges (eliminating all unauthorized discharges);
• Conducting routine, pre-storm, storm event and post-storm inspections as specified in the SWPPP (and prepare Rain Events Action Plans, as applicable);
• Collecting storm and non-storm water samples, as necessary and calculating turbidity;
• Preparing annual compliance certification;
• Completing, maintaining and submitting SWPPP reporting forms to ensure accurate and timely record-keeping for proactive management purposes and to meet regulatory guidelines for documentation and reporting;
• Overseeing and facilitating SWPPP-related training and other relevant communication programs for project staff;
• Monitoring and directing contractors with SWPPP responsibilities;
• Directing work crews to deploy or repair BMPs as necessary;
• Reporting as necessary to the Project Environmental Compliance Manager and the Site Superintendent; and
• Performing any other NPDES or related duties as assigned by the Project Environmental Compliance Manger and the Site Superintendent.
Requirements:
• Knowledge of NPDES laws, regulations and Water Quality Permitting at the local, State and Federal levels;
• Meet minimum requirements for a Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) per the CA CGP (CESSWI or CISEC);
• 2-5 years work experience in a related/relevant field;
• Available to work up to 60 hours per week;
• Knowledge of and familiarity with functionality of job sites and reading plans;
• Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Office;
• Capable of performing strenuous fieldwork and walking long distances on potentially difficult terrain;
• Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of staff and personality types;
• Strong management skills to include:
Organizing and scheduling
